The day is finally here! It’s the beginning of the third annual competition… And the start of a new chapter in the Slug Wizard story!
If you didn’t already catch the tale of Hoffrich the Hunter in last year’s epic zine, go take a look (it’s called A Necessary Exchange and begins on page 27). It puts Evan Hough‘s brilliant Hunter model front and center in a peculiar tale of magical mucopolysaccharides exuded by the Slug Wizards, and the lords of another dimension that demand the substance.
But what is the purpose of the mystical slime? What does the hunter look like beneath his mask? And what the heck does a bovicomp or Strigilon look like? Are there other beings or creatures hunting the Slug Wizards?
These are just some of the questions we hope you will consider for this year’s creative prompt…

I am also absolutely thrilled to present the cover of this year’s zine, featuring a beautiful illustration by the incredible Pencilsanddungeons and layout by Sir Magus Limaxus…
I could wax poetic about all of the lovely details in the illustration, but I think I’d rather just let you soak it all in and come up with your own ideas about it as a way to get your creative juices flowing. Thanks again to Chris for the beautiful image.
I want to be sure to mention that this year’s event will be very casual and very stripped-back compared to last year. I will be moving next month – between that and full-time work, I won’t have the bandwidth to commit as much time to the event this year. But you can still expect a zine, small prizes for the top three entries, and perhaps even some stickers this year.
I have also pulled the online store down for now as I reconsider how I will be managing merch this year.
